Okara Lentils Burger served with sweet potato chips

Veggie burgers are actually a whole cuisine, you can make various burgers with different ingredients. you can have them in a burger bun, next to mashed potatoes or even in a wrap. This time I made an Okara Lentil Burger, but the recipe can be altered quite easily to other ingredients too.

I made Soy milk very easily and while making it, I realized that I also made an excellent byproduct – Okara (recipe here) which is normally sold separately. so you can buy Okara at the store, or just make your own and freeze for whenever you feel like having a nice burger.

Okara Lentils Burger with Fries Please.

I wanted my meal to be perfect and assimilate “Junk Food” but to keep it rather healthy. I made the buns and fries for it too, you can use this easy burger buns recipe.

The Okara lentils burger was just great and it’s even healthy so we made quite a lot of them and whenever we feel like having some junk food – we just warm up two burgers and buns from the freezer and have a really nice meal with zero effort.

Instructions
Burgers
  1. cook the lentils, carrots and ginger in 3 cups water until the water have fully evaporated.
  2. Use a food processor to mash all the ingredients together. in case that you can't use a food processor - slice the veggies very thinly or try improvising with a blender (add the okara and lentils afterwards)
  3. Shape the burgers. I used a ring at first but decided that I was unnecessary.
  4. Bake for 30-40 minutes at 170 degrees C (340 F).
Sweet potato chips
  1. lay the sweet potato slices on a baking pan - sprinkle the ingredients on top and bake at 160 degrees C (320 F) until they are crispy. it's hard to say how long because it depends on their thickness, check every 10 minutes.
